This article will explain the changes that have occurred regarding several domain extensions and Brexit.
Since the United Kingdom has now left the European Union (EU), the following Top-Level Domains (TLDs) cannot be registered by or transferred to any UK registrants:
- .eu
- .fr
- .pm
How can I keep these domains?
You will only be able to register .eu domains if:
- Your business, organisation or undertaking has an EU address;
- You have an EU or European Economic Area (EEA) citizenship; or
- You have an EU or European Economic Area (EEA) residence
Similarly, you will only be able to register .fr and .pm domains if you, or your business, has an EU or EEA address.

My .eu domain is gone, even though I comply with these rules – what should I do?
If you previously owned one of these domains and believe that you meet the eligibility criteria listed above, you will need to contact the registry responsible for managing them.
For .eu domains, you will need to contact EURid by emailing them on info@eurid.eu. For more details about EURid’s Brexit policy, be sure to read their full notice here.
For .fr and .pm domains, you will need to contact Afnic by emailing them on support@afnic.fr. For more details about Afnic’s Brexit policy, be sure to read their full notice here.
How do I change the domain name associated with my products to a non .eu domain?
If you haven’t already done so, you’ll need to purchase and register a new domain name first so that you have a replacement domain ready.
Once you’ve registered your substitute domain, you can then update the domain associated with your products by contacting our Support teams, who will be happy to help transfer everything over for you. Alternatively, you can follow the instructions outlined in each article below:
