How do I point my third-party domain name to my 123 Reg website?
This article will help you to point your third-party domain name to your 123 Reg website.
Firstly, you will need to set up an A record, or a CNAME record, on your domain name in your third-party account that points to your hosting package’s IP address. This should be relatively simple, as this is standard functionality for most domain name providers.
However, if you are struggling, then please get in contact with your domain name provider for assistance.
How do I know what the IP address for my Hosting package is?
You can find the IP address for your hosting package by logging into your Control Panel and checking which package type you are using. Each one has its own unique IP address, so check the list below to see which is your IP:

If you purchased your hosting plan after this period, please see the following article: How do I add a domain name to my web hosting package?
You will need to go to your third-party provider and point your domain to your 123 Reg hosting package’s IP Address.
Now you need to map your domain name to your hosting package through your 123 Reg Control panel. From the package management section, click on the Domain Mapping link.
Next you must specify that you would like to map an external domain name. Do that by clicking the link in the external domain name passage of text, as shown below.
We will need to check the domain name in question before we allow you to map it to a hosting package. Ensure you have the Point a domain registered elsewhere option selected, then enter the domain into the text field, and then click the Check button.
Once we see that the domain name is registered elsewhere, click the Yes button when asked if you own the domain name elsewhere.
You will now be reminded to set up the DNS record on your domain name in your 3rd party account. If you have done so already, click on the Point domain to 123 Reg to complete the process. Your domain name will now be pointed to your hosting package.
Please note: These changes may take 24 to 48 hours to propagate across the internet and your DNS records to update.
