Transferring a .uk domain away from 123 Reg

To transfer a .uk domain name away from 123 Reg, you will need the IPS tag and the nameservers of the provider that you are transferring to.

Once you have these details, please follow the instructions outlined below.

Please note: before proceeding, you’ll need to make sure that your domain isn’t locked. For details on how to do this, please read the following article: How do I lock or unlock my Domain Name?
  1. Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.
  2. Next, select Manage All opposite Domains within the ‘All Products and Services’ section.
  3. You will now see a complete list of your purchased domain names. Select the domain you want to update from the provided list.

    Select Domain Name
  4. This will take you to the overview page for your chosen domain. From here, select Transfer to Another Registrar within the Transfer section.

  5. Enter your code into the provided field and click Verify.

  6. From there, you’ll need to enter your new provider’s IPS tag into the provided field. Click here for further instructions on how to change your domain’s nameservers and click here for further instructions on how to change your domain’s IPS tag.

It normally takes approximately 12-24 hours for this to update. However, some providers have a “handshake” system where they will need to approve the transfer in and therefore the IPS tag may not update automatically. Please check with your new provider if they have this process in place, so that they can approve the transfer once you have changed the TAG.
