Configuring a scheduled task
This article will show you how to set up scheduled tasks on your hosting package
To allow programs to run automatically at pre-set intervals, simply click on a title below to skip to the most appropriate FAQ. You can also click the Top button to return and make another selection.
Please note: Your Shared Hosting account can only run 3 scheduled tasks at any one time.
Web Hosting plans purchased after July 2020 / Premium Hosting plans purchased after August 2020 (cPanel)
On your dashboard, select the cPanel Admin button that appears above Settings.
Select Cron Jobs within the Advanced section.
Locate the cron job you wish to configure and select Edit.
Alternatively, you can create a new cron job by selecting Add New Cron Job.
Web Hosting plans purchased before July 2020 / Premium Hosting plans purchased before August 2020
Start by logging in to your legacy Control Panel. For details on how to do this, please read the following article: How do I access and manage my products?
From there, select Web Hosting or Premium Hosting within the ‘Manage active products’ section, depending on which product you wish to use.
Next, select Manage opposite the ‘(bought before XX/XX/XX)’ option.
This will show you an overview of your current hosting packages. Click Manage for the account you wish to use.
On the next page, select Manage for the domain you wish to update.
Click on the Scheduled Tasks option in the Web Tools section.
In the Access this URL path field enter the URL for the script you wish to schedule and click on the Test URL button to check the path is correct.
Important: The file permissions for the script will need to be set correctly, 711 or 755
Then select when you would like the script to be run. The minimum time you can use for a time interval scheduled task is one hour.
Important: Please ensure you enter a valid date for your tasks
Scroll to the bottom of the page. If you require the output of the scripts to be emailed you can enter an email address here, press the Update button to save the changes.
