How do I remove database tables?

Before importing a new database or restoring a backup, we recommend removing, or dropping, existing tables from a database. Simply follow the instructions outlined below:

Start by logging in to your phpMyAdmin account. For details on how to do this, please read our Support article: How do I access phpMyAdmin through WordPress?

Once you’ve accessed phpMyAdmin, select Databases.

Choose the database you wish to optimise from the list of provided options.

You will now be given the complete list of tables within your database. Check the tables you wish to optimise individually or by selecting Check All at the end of the page.

Once done, select the With selected: menu alongside it and choose Drop from the drop-down menu that appears.

You’ll receive a pop-up window that asks ‘Do you really want to execute the following query?’

Select Yes to continue.
