This article will show you how to add FTP users to your Virtual Private Server.
Setting up FTP users within your VPS will allow them to access and manage your website. Simply follow the instructions below to get started.
Please note: the following article was originally created for our current generation of Virtual Private Servers. As such, these instructions may not be relevant to our previous generation of Virtual Private Servers.
Start by logging in to your 123 Reg Control Panel.
Next, select Servers within the ‘All Products and Services’ section.
Find the VPS you wish to change and click Manage opposite it.
You will now be taken to your dashboard. From here, click Accounts, followed by Launch cPanel.
On the next page, select FTP Accounts.
You will now need to enter a few details about your user, which includes the following:
- Log In: this will be the first part of your username. Your full username will include ‘@’ and the domain name associated with your account. For example, if your domain is john-smith.co.uk and you use user1 as the Log in, your full FTP username will be user1@john-smith.co.uk.
- Password: your FTP user’s password.
- Directory: which areas this user can access. To give this user complete access, enter / into the field.
- Quota: the amount of space allocated to that user. To give this user an unlimited quota, enter Unlimited
Once done, click Create FTP Account to complete the process.
