How do I connect using SSH (PuTTy)?
This article will explain how you can use the Putty SSH client to access your 123 Reg Linux VPS server.
To access your server using the PuTTy SSH client, simply follow the instructions below.
Please note: before getting started, you will need the IP address, username and password for your Virtual Server. If you’re not sure where to find these details, please read the following articles:
Start by opening PuTTy.
Enter your hostname or IP address into the provided field and set the SSH port to 22. Next, click the Open button to open the command line window.
In the command line window, type in the SSH username at the login as prompt and then press enter on your keyboard.
In the command line window, type in the SSH password at the login as prompt and then press enter on your keyboard.
You should now be logged into your VPS server using SSH access.
What is the root SSH password for my Linux VPS?
Your VPS server root password would be the same password you use to login to your 123 Reg VPS with originally, this would have been sent to you in the initial welcome email.
