Using Plesk Panel Migration Manager

This article applies to Plesk Panel Migration Manager

Using the Migration Manager in Plesk Panel is a quick and easy way to move your settings from one Plesk Panel Service to another.

Please note: The source Plesk Panel that you are migrating from needs to be at least version 9.5.4 or higher. If your Plesk Panel does not meet this requirement, it can be updated in Plesk using the Updater tool.

This article was originally created for our previous generation of Virtual Private Servers. As such, these instructions may not be relevant to our current generation of Virtual Private Servers.

Installing Plesk Panel Migration Manager

Step 1 of 3

Open a terminal session to your VPS using a client such as PuTTY.

Step 2 of 3

Enter your username and password.

Step 3 of 3

Install Migration Manager.

/opt/psa/admin/bin/autoinstaller

Or

/usr/local/psa/admin/bin/autoinstaller

Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation process.

Using Migration Manager in Plesk

Please Note: Domains on a Dedicated IP on the host server can only be migrated to a Dedicated IP on the new server. Likewise domains with a Shared IP on the host server can only be migrated to a Shared IP on the new server.

Login to your Parallels Plesk Panel.

Click on the Tools & Settings link in the left hand panel.

Click on Migration & Transfer Manager under the Tools & Resources section.

On the next screen click on the Start New Migration icon.

  • Select Transfer data from another server as the Data Source.

In the Source Host section you will need to provide the following

  • Source host name or IP address
  • Administrator login
  • Password

You can use the default paths for the Migration & Transfer Agent upload path and Temporary Files Location.

In the Transfer Settings section select Migrate the whole server.

Tip: Using rsync requires less free space on the host source server and is faster.

Click on the Next>> button to proceed.

The Migration Process will now start.

Select the New IP Address and click on the Next>> button to continue.

On the next screen you can see the progress of your migration.

Press the Refresh button to refresh the progress of the migration.

Once completed, you can view any errors by clicking on Source hostname.

Here you will be able to view the details for the migration and view any error logs if required. Press the OK button to complete the migration.
