This article will explain the issuing period for SSL certificates.
From September 1st 2020, the maximum validity period for all SSL certificates will be 1 year. This change has been implemented across the entire industry and affects all Certificate Authorities.
Since long validity periods often lead to SSL certificates becoming less secure, this shorter validity period gives your visitors greater assurance that the website they’re visiting is safe and secure.
If you’re using a 2-year SSL certificate that was issued before September 1st 2020, your certificate will remain valid until its set expiry date. After this period, you will need to renew your SSL certificate every year.
