General information for migrated Domainmonster customers
Although Domainmonster will soon be shutting down, there’s no need to panic as your products will automatically be migrated to 123 Reg. Since we’ve been working together for some time now, this will only be a front-end change to your domain management so don’t expect any major changes to the way your products will work.
What’s more, 123 Reg includes all the benefits of Domainmonster and more! With a more diverse product range, excellent customer support, better products as well as an easy-to-use Control Panel at your disposal, you’ll get the best package we have to offer.
123 Reg also utilise an improved mailing platform, complete with built-in spam and virus protection as well as the ability to easily integrate your account into most mail clients, including Outlook, Gmail and Apple Mail.
The migration is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2020, although more information will be confirmed via email in the upcoming weeks. You don’t need to take any further action or start a domain transfer to 123 Reg yourself, as we will take care of all this during the migration process.
How do I access my 123 Reg account?
Once the migration is complete, you’ll receive an email confirming this. From there, you’ll need to reset your 123 Reg account password using the ‘Forgotten your Password?’ link on our Login page. The ‘Email / Username’ will be the email address used for your Domainmonster account. Once you’ve reset your password, you will now be able to access your 123 Reg account.
However, if you’re currently using a Domainmonster mailbox for your Domainmonster account’s main email address, this will need updating as soon as possible! If action is not taken before the migration to 123 Reg, you may not be able to access your migrated products or your new 123 Reg account, as you won’t receive the ‘Forgotten Password’ details needed as part of the next step.
As such, before the migration takes place, you will need to either:
- Update your account’s email address to a different one, such as a Gmail or Yahoo address
- Create your own 123 Reg account using your Domainmonster email address
What if I already have an account with 123 Reg?
If you have an account with both 123 Reg and Domainmonster using the same email address, we will be migrating your Domainmonster products to your existing 123 Reg account. You won’t need to reset your 123 Reg password though, so you’ll be able to access your account using your standard login details.
If you would like a separate 123 Reg account to be created instead, you will need to change the email address associated with your Domainmonster account before the migration starts. This can be done by following these steps:
- Login to your Domainmonster account
- Under ‘Manage Your Account’ on the right-hand menu, select ‘Account Security’
- Under ‘Your account details’, update the email address and select ‘Confirm’
Once the migration has been completed, you will also need to manually add your payment details to your 123 Reg account, such as your credit/debit card and PayPal details, as we are unable to transfer this information. For further information on how to do this, please read our Support article: I want to add PayPal as an option.
When should I renew my domain(s)?
We recommend that you take advantage of your current pricing by renewing your domain(s) with Domainmonster for multiple years as soon as possible, so that you can lock-in that rate.
If you have any remaining credit on your Domainmonster account, we recommend that you make the most of it spending it on your domain renewals. Otherwise, this will be converted to GBP and transferred to your 123 Reg account during the migration.
How do I opt-out of this?
Since Domainmonster will be shutting down, this migration is necessary. This process will be done automatically, without any actions required on your part, while all your domains will retain their current expiration dates.
If you don’t wish to become a 123 Reg customer, you will need to transfer your domain(s) to another provider before the migration takes place.
What are the next steps for my migrated domain(s)?
Following the migration to 123 Reg, all domain names imported from Domainmonster will keep their current expiry date as well as their renewal setting (i.e. manual or automatic renewal). You won’t need to do anything further but be aware that all domain renewals will be charged at 123 Reg’s rates.
For more information on how to renew your domain(s) with 123 Reg, please view our ‘How do I renew my domain names?’ Support article.
How do I update my domain settings?
As part of the migration, all imported domains will have their nameservers switched to 123 Reg nameservers, while the DNS settings will remain unchanged. For more information on how to manage your 123 Reg DNS settings, please view our DNS Management Guide.
In addition to this, all existing web/domain forwarding rules will be migrated to 123 Reg as well. For more information on 123 Reg’s web forwarding rules and how to amend them, please view our Web Forwarding Guide.
If you have any other questions, please view our extensive FAQs section on Domain Names for further information.
What are the next steps for my migrated mailbox(es)?
Following the migration to 123 Reg, all mailboxes will have their password reset to a randomly generated code. As such, you will need to login to 123 Reg and reset your mailbox password before you can access it.
You will be able to do this as soon as the migration is complete. However, if you haven’t done so already, make sure you have reset the password for your 123 Reg account first (see ‘How do I access my 123 Reg account’ above) – otherwise, you won’t be able to access your main account and reset your mailbox password.
If you already have an account with 123 Reg, you won’t need to follow this process as it only applies to new users. To access your migrated products, simply login to your 123 Reg account with your usual details.
For more information on how to complete this, please view the ‘I have lost/forgotten or need to change my mailbox password’ section in our ‘Purchasing and configuring your 123 Reg email’ Support article.
How do I access my mailbox(es)?
Setting up and accessing your 123 Reg mailbox(es) can be done through a variety of ways:
- Using email clients such as Outlook, Thunderbird and Apple Mail
- Using mobile email clients such as iPhone, Android and Windows mobile
- Using the online Webmail portal, which can be easily configured to suit your needs
Once you’ve accessed your mailbox, you’ll see that all existing emails from your Domainmonster account will have been migrated to 123 Reg. Furthermore, any emails sent or received during the migration process will not be lost.
