This article will show you how to update your domain’s DNS settings to work with your Website Builder website.
Please note: this article only applies to Version 8 of our Website Builder. If you’re not sure which version you have, you can find out by reading this article.
These steps should only be applicable to users with custom DNS settings.
First, you need to create a web forwarding rule for your website. This starts by using the Basic DNS settings dropdown to point your domain at the 123 Reg forwarding system.
Start by logging in to your legacy Control Panel. For details on how to do this, please read the following article: How do I access and manage my products?
From there, select Domain Names within the ‘Manage active products’ section. Next, choose your domain name from the provided list and then select Manage.
This will take you to the overview page for your chosen domain. From here, select Manage DNS within the Advanced domain settings section.
On the next page, select the option 123-Reg Holding/Forwarding within the Website Settings (A Records) field.
Next, return to the domain management page and select Web forwarding.
On the next page, you’ll be able to create your new forwarding rule. You want the com version of your domain to point to the www.domainname.com version of your domain.
Start by clicking Edit for the relevant domain.
You’ll then be able to enter the target domain into the provided box. Remember to add the ‘www.’
Once done, click Confirm to save your changes.
Next, return to the domain management page and select Manage DNS again.
On the next page, select the Advanced DNS tab.
You’ll now need to create a CNAME record that features the following information:
- Hostname: www
- Type: CNAME
- Destination CNAME: 123reg.multiscreensite.com
Once you’ve done this, click Add to save your changes.
